Low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) or low smoke & fume (LSF) cables are increasingly being used in public and government buildings and where there is sensitive electronic equipment (i.e. Hospitals, Airports, Control Rooms & Computer Suites). These cables are designed for increased safety in the case of a fire as follows: Reduction in hazardous fumes which can cause injury when inhaled. LSF (Low Smoke and Fume) and OHLS (Zero Halogen Low Smoke)
 
Note: LSF may mean modified PVC which can give off up to 18%
HCL (Hydrogen Chloride) emissions. Whereas the term Zero Halogen
ensures that the cables give off less than 0.5% HCL emissions.
